Helsinki ACC Sector B covers an elongated area in the southern part of Finland FIR, encompassing the main airspace corridors for traffic to and from Helsinki Vantaa. Sector B operates on 125.225 MHz.
Sector B has a lower limit of FL285 in the eastern part of the sector, where it sits above Helsinki TMA.
The main tasks are:
- Descend and arrival instructions for Helsinki arrivals via DIVAM/PEXEN
- Climb for Helsinki departures via NUNTO, KUVEM, ADIVO
- En-route traffic
The primary workload of Sector B is formed of traffic to and from Helsinki TMA. Especially the DIVAM arrival routes can get busy, and it is often recommendable to make use of proactive speed restrictions or delay vectors to establish an orderly flow of traffic.
It is important to remember that Sector B also covers a small area of airspace east of Helsinki TMA, through which Helsinki departures via ARVEP will cross.
