Reykjavik South Sector

Rekjavik South Sector is an all level sector covering the central third of Reykjavik OCA and all airspace over Iceland. It operates on 119.7 MHz. The entire sector has SSR radar coverage.

The main tasks of South sector are:
  • Issuing oceanic clearances for aircraft departing Icelandic aerodromes
  • Identification of aircraft entering Reykjavik OCA from Shanwick OCA
  • Climb and descent for Iceland traffic
All aircraft entering Reykjavik OCA must be positively identified with a transponder code change, regardless of the actual aircraft code. To avoid duplicates, transponder codes should always be obtained here.

Sector N is responsible for providing service at all Icelandic aerodromes when there is no local ATC available.

South Sector will usually be combined with Reykjavic East Sector, and may also be combined with North West Sector if all Reykjavik sectors are operated by a single controller.
