Swedish airspace is made up of Sweden Flight Information Region (FIR), extending across Swedish territory and the Baltic Sea as well as the Gulf of Bothnia.

Area control service in the souther part of Sweden FIR, approximately south of 59°N, is provided my Malmö ACC (ESMM). North of this, area control service is provided by Stockholm ACC (ESOS). Free Route Airspace (FRA) is established within Sweden FIR above FL285. The FRA extends into Copenhagen FIR (Denmark).

Most flights in Sweden takes place in the southern part of the FIR, south of Stockholm (60°N). However, a large number of smaller airfields in the northern half of the FIR are also visited regularily.
